The good news from the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is that consumers have made steady purchases over the past two months with little government incentives which indicates solid consumer demand. The response from auto manufacturers is an increased level of comfort in spending money and resources on developing new designs and technologies. Here’s a summary of the vehicles unveiled at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.

FORD
Ford Sweeps two of the most coveted awards- the Fusion Hybrid midsize sedan wins the 2010 North American Car of the Year, while the Ford Transit Connect takes truck of the year. In addition, Ford finally released the long-awaited details for the new 2011 Mustang GT. The return of the 5.0-liter brings with it 412-hp at 6500 rpm and 390 ft-lbs of torque at 4250 rpm, a far cry from the 175-hp 302 cubic inch motor found in the 1983 model.

CHEVROLET
Chevrolet introduced a new look and feel for the Aveo RS, a sub-compact car with 138 horsepower and excellent fuel economy.
Other new features include:

* Dynamic hot hatch designed to appeal to young enthusiasts
* Personalization is built into the design
* Roominess and upscale amenities not usually found in subcompacts
* 1.4L I-4 Ecotec turbo delivers exceptional fuel economy with performance when needed

CADILLAC
After much anticipation, Cadillac has finally announced all the details of the new 2011 CTS-V Coupe. The high-powered version of the new CTS Coupe, which debuted at the LA Auto Show, is powered by the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found in the CTS-V sedan, with an incredible 556-hp at 6100 rpm and 551 ft-lbs of torque at 3800 rpm. That’s enough to propel the 2+2 seater to 60 mph in an incredible 3.9 seconds.

What do you think of the state of the American auto industry?
